Additional Information
Decommissioned in 2022. Vessel to be deconstructed.
Henry Hudson (1565-1611). Born in England, he is famous for his attempts to find the Northwest passage. In his searches, he spent time in what is modern New York, and laid the foundation for the Dutch colonization of the region. During his final journey, he discovered the straight, and the immense bay that would eventually be named for him. That winter while on the shore of James Bay, his crew mutinied, and left Hudson and his son, who were never seen again.
