Sir Wilfred Grenfell 1 (5x7) sm
Additional Information
Sir Wilfred Thomason Grenfell (1865-1940). Born in England, Grenfell studied medicine in London before being sent to Newfoundland in 1892 to help improve the health conditions of coastal communities. The mission expanded to include developing schools, social work, and other work projects. Sir Grenfell was knighted as a result of his years of service to the communities in the Great Northern Penninsula of Newfoundland. Last update: 23 December, 2022
The Sir Wilfred Grenfell was converted into a Navigation Aids Tender in 2020-2021. A cargo hold was constructed, the aft deck was rebuilt to be a working buoy deck, and a few crane was fitted to the vessel.
