Additional Information
William Jackman (1837-1877) was born in Renews, Newfoundland and commanded sailing vessels for Bowring Brothers Ltd. He is remembered for his heroism in the saving of all 27 crew members of the shipwrecked schooner SEA CLIPPER in October of 1867 at Spotted Island, Labrador. He was awarded a diploma and medal from the Royal Humane Society.
